SHE-LOGY: Today is WORLD BOOK DAY, as celebrated in the UK and Ireland. Also known as World Book and Copyright Day, and commonly celebrated every April 23rd, it is an event organized by UNESCO to promote reading, publishing and copyright.

She-logy honors the day with a feature of my favorite heroines from classic literature, all written by female authors. Who are your favorite female fictional characters? I’m already excited to read about some of the guest bloggers writing about their favorite female authors.

Sometimes a She-logy post is as short, simple and straight-forward as this, yet still shows the talents and thoughts of women.

This set though has more dimensions than just having a song title after a woman. The quotes I chose from these artists are honest and possibly controversial to some. But that’s the point. When we don’t challenge or debate the norm, we deprive ourselves of real change and progress.
